Tips to Prevent Allergies

There are conventional and some alternative treatments for allergies, but I found that my patients also benefit from lifestyle changes that can significantly reduce the impact of their allergy triggers. You can not emphasize enough that you consult your physician before implementing any of the following recommendations to ensure no conflict with their current treatment plan.

  • Wash your hands and pollen from other areas affected by allergies in high season.
  • Keep windows and doors closed when the pollen count is high and stay inside, drier windier day to day to minimize exposure to seasonal allergens.
  • The use of high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter to reduce contaminants in the air, especially at the point of the room.
  • In humid areas, use a dehumidifier to limit mold growth.
  • Buy allergy-proof bed, including mattress and pillow covers to reduce allergy symptoms, and regularly wash sheets, blankets and pillowcases in hot water.
  • Stuffed animals and real animals can contribute to both allergic rhinitis and to wash frequently.
  • Consider removing carpeting in the bedroom or the use of area rugs can be cleaned regularly. Vacuum all carpets and floor surfaces weekly with a HEPA filter equipped.
  • Limit mowing and other gardening activities during peak allergy, avoiding the use of chemical pesticides and outdoor products.
  • Use the environment and health safe household cleaners.
  • Eating healthy, organic whole with a lot of anti-inflammatory antioxidant.
  • Avoid the use of herbal products and foods that cross-react with seasonal allergens for some people this may include species of echinacea and fruits and some vegetables (known as “oral allergy syndrome”).
  • To prevent allergic diseases in infants, perinatal consider avoiding known allergens from food, especially if a family history of atopic disease, breastfeeding is known to be protective as well.
  • Try to clear the salt called “Neti pot” to clean the pollen from the nasal cavity. Even children as young as 2 or 3 years can be taught how to use it.
  • Try using a particular health product natural supplements such as probiotics and essential fatty acids, which can reduce the risk of developing allergies.
  • Should consider techniques for coping with stress, like yoga or meditation. I recommend the conscience!
